DeBabelizer Server for Mac OS X or OS XServe requires any Panther or Tiger version OS and a computer capable of running it. DeBabelizer Server for Windows requires Windows XP, Winserv 2000 or 2003.
We recommend at least 500mb of RAM or more depending on the size of the original images, animation or digital video you desire to process and depending on the number of Services you have running on the desired machine.
1.2 About DeBabelizer Client/Server capabilities
DeBabelizer Server is powered by Equilibrium’s MediaRich technology and runs as a Service. The Service takes very little processing power until media processing Job requests are made. Upon receipt of the Job request from any DeBabelizer Pro Client, DeBabelizer Server immediately starts the Job and Queue’s any other Jobs as they are requested.
The Server Administration Application and DeBabelizer Server can be used interoperably with Windows and other versions of DeBabelizer Servers as they become available. Both the DeBabelizer Pro Client Application and the DeBabelizer Server Administration Utility can send Jobs as well as administer any server from any client. For example, you can can install 5 DeBabelizer Pro Clients on Macintosh and install a single CPU DeBabelizer Server on Windows XP or WinServ. Requests can be made to this or another OS X DeBabelizer Server from within the Mac or Windows Clients “interoperably”. That is, any request can be performed by any Server. This enables Enterprise and Workgroup Media Processing Workflows and Delivery from your desktop in a heterogeneous environment. See the Server User Guide for more Details.
1.3 Setting up DeBabelizer Server
Before DeBabelizer Server can be used, a license key must be installed. You can obtain an evaluation key by visiting the Equilibrium web site, www.equilibrium.com. For a permanent license key, Contact Equilibrium Customer Support at 1-866-EQU-ILIB. Use the DeBabelizer Server Administration application to install your license key and start the DeBabelizer Server.
After installing your license key, you should also configure the e-mail server required to send e-mail and the virtual file system volumes where you would like DeBabelizer Pro clients to be able to define source and destination folders in Job submissions. (See the user guide under DeBabelizer Server for more details regarding Destination and Server configuration.)
2. GENERAL ISSUES
2.1 Access Permissions
DeBabelizer Server runs with the permissions of the "mediarich" group. The initial members of this group, created during installation, are root, and the user that performed the installation. To allow applications running as other users access to the DeBabelizer Server Shared folder, add those users to the "mediarich" group. To allow other users to administer the DeBabelizer Server, and those users to the "mediarich" group.
